Taught by eyeBLINK Entertainment's Artistic Director, Qurrat Ann Kadwani, this acting class focuses on scene study and monologue work using Meisner improv games and exercises as well as a heightened way of analyzing text and getting prepared for auditions.  Sanjeev Bhattacharya is a classically trained traditional Manipuri dancer, choreographer and teacher from Haryana, India. A disciple of the legendary Guru Bipin Singh, Bhattacharya is one of the few male dancers to perform the Manipur style and is renowned for his virtuosic balance of both the Tandava (strong) as well as Lasya (delicate) styles of dancing. Manipuri dance is indigenous to Manipur in the north-eastern state of India and the people of this valley. He is founder and director of the Angahar Dance Academy of Calcutta. He has also received training in music and various Indian traditional and classical dances (Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Kathakali and Odissi) for the past 20 years. He is recipient of the Nartan Visharad from Manipuri Nartanlaya, Koltaka and Singermoni from Sur Singer Samsad, Mumbai. He is a three times recipient of Production grants in Performing Arts from the Government of India. He has also received the Senior National Scholar and Fellowship from the Ministry of HRD New Delhi or his work and contribution to the field of Manipuri dance and culture.

BENGALI FOLK DANCE

Students will be introduced to the soulful sounds of Baul and other folk music of Bangladesh. Each class will begin with basic exercises of arms, torso and feet to folk rhythm, followed by folk dance choreography. Students should be prepared to learn the emotionally lyrical narrative stories and poems of beautiful Bangladesh! Prior experience is not necessary for this performance-oriented workshop. Students will be invited to participate in a showcase on Nov. 11.

This workshop will focus on the dance form of the classic films of Indian cinema. It will evoke the sensual charms and femininity of the Indian courtesans from films such as Umrao Jaan, Mughal-E-Azzam & Pakeezah. Classes will focus on teaching basic movements of Kathak and incorporate a complete, chreographed dance piece. This workshop is performance based, however prior dance experience is not necessary.
